Switzerland is recognised internationally as a positive example in matters of sustainability - social, economic and ecological. By signing the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, our country has also pledged to assume responsibility for achieving sustainability in a global context.
Such status and commitment offer excellent opportunities to disseminate Switzerland’s experience in and with sustainable development worldwide - and to exchange with other countries on the best solutions, experiences and challenges as well as to learn from one another.
To successfully shape global change, however, Switzerland must develop policies and governance mechanisms that are more coherent as well as adopt an integral way of thinking. This requires the active participation of civil society and engagement from the private sector. It also requires science - tangible and targeted sustainability research. In this regard, Switzerland still has a lot of catching up to do.
The KFPE wishes to lead the way. By engaging with eminent personalities, KFPE would like to initiate a dialogue around sustainability research (in German with simultaneous interpretation) and shed light on Switzerland's commitment to the Agenda 2030.
KFPE is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Guidelines for research partnerships. This seems like a perfect opportunity to discuss forward-looking ideas.
